Rest Assured® was developed to assist adults who need extra reminders and supportive oversight to ensure their health and safety each day, plus provide them with a virtual companion. The caregiver support is accomplished through the creative use of an interactive web-based system of electronic devices. This includes the use of electronic sensors, speakers and microphones, web-cam(s) in common areas, smoke detectors, fall sensors, temperature detector and personal emergency response systems. These devices link each senior's home or apartment to a remote location where caregiving staff monitor the living environment. A remote caregiver constantly monitors the senior's living site – occasionally dropping in just to chat. Should a senior exhibit a problem, the remote caregiver is immediately capable of assessing the situation and interacting with their client to provide support. In most situations, the remote caregiver can manage the situation alone. If necessary, a second float caregiver can be dispatched to provide on-site assistance (quick response), or emergency services may be contacted.

Because one remote caregiver can oversee and support seniors in many different homes, it is much more cost effective than the traditional home care model. This system spreads the cost of the remote caregiver and float staff over many different senior living sites to effect a dramatic improvement in productivity.

The Rest Assured® System can also link distant family caregivers with their loved ones allowing them to play a more active role in care. For example, a son living in California can receive alerts from the Rest Assured® System via text message or email which can then cue the son to log into a secure Rest Assured® website to see in his mother's home in Georgia in real-time. They can have a face to face conversation via the Rest Assured® LINC screen in his mother's home. Distant caregivers can also send reminder messages to the LINC screen to remind for medications or any activity of daily living.
