
Mary Katherine Bagnal is the Chief Executive Officer of Senior Matters Extended Services. She founded the company in 1997 out of a need she saw for care management and advocacy for mature adults and disabled individuals.
Ms. Bagnal earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She is also a credentialed case manager and a Registered Legal Guardian with the National Guardianship Foundation. She is a member of the South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
She has provided professional geriatric and / or disability care management across South Carolina since opening the company. Ms. Bagnal spoke at the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers in New Port Beach, California on Special Needs Trust.
Ms. Bagnal is a Commissioner appointed by Governor Sanford to the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs board (2005 - 2008) and National and Community Service board (2005 - 2007). Formerly, Ms. Bagnal was Vice-President of the South Carolina Brain Injury Association (2001 - 2004). She was an active advocate for the Senate Bill 1116 protecting vulnerable adults in South Carolina.
In 1999, the governor's office in South Carolina contracted with Ms. Bagnal to conduct a long range planning and study of aging services across the state. The information gathered was presented to state agencies and legislative committees responsible for aging services.
Prior to establishing Senior Matters, Ms. Bagnal worked for the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Senior Services, Duke Hospital, North Carolina Health Care Association and Brian Center Management Corporation. She has also performed work for the National Alzheimer's Association. |
